First Meeting of the Consultative Network

The first meeting of the high-level Consultative Network - to be held 6-7 June 2006 in Helsinki - will discuss the challenges and opportunities presented by recent developments in the world under the broad theme of the Changing Context of Globalisation.

The theme will be approached through three issues - The potential of UN Human Rights Council, New Macroeconomic Thinking, and Climate Change and Energy. The meeting will be co-chaired by the Foreign Ministers of Finland and Tanzania and introductory remarks will be given by Mr. José Antonio Ocampo, Deputy Secretary General of the UN and Mr. Thomas Hammarberg, Commissioner for Human Rights, Council of Europe.
