The Helsinki Process event in connection to UNCTAD XI was organized by the governments of Finland, Tanzania and Brazil in Sao Paolo, 15 June. Theme of the event was "BUILDING FOR PARTNERSHIPS: Helsinki Process on Globalisation and Democracy".

18 January 2004   Helsinki Process debated in the World Social Forum 
A dialogue on globalisation and democracy took place in conjunction with the World Social Forum (18 January 2004). The dialogue "Democratising Globally – Civil Society Engaging with State Actors" was organised by Indian, Tanzanian and Finnish non-governmental organisations. The purpose of the dialogue was to explore the ideas and visions of a more democratic international community with special emphasis on civil society perspectives from the South.
